Basketball Recap: Loyola Blakefield Comes Up Short

Loyola Blakefield lost against Our Lady of Mount Carmel two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Dons lost to the Cougars at home by a 59-44 margin. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Cougars are ranked third).

Loyola Blakefield has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Loyola Blakefield will head out to take on Boys Latin at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The Dons will be up against the Lakers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.6 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will take on St. Mary's in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
