Football Game Preview: Dunnellon Tigers vs. Hawthorne Hornets + Official Tickets

The Dunnellon Tigers will challenge the Hawthorne Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dunnellon not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 1, 2024 (when they won 28-6). They put the hurt on North Marion with a sharp 28-6 win. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne earned a 42-29 win over University Christian on Friday. The Hornets pushed the score to 36-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Christians cut but never quite recovered from.

Hawthorne's win came from a few key players Dunnellon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Richard Roundtree Jr, who threw for 169 yards and two TDs. Derryek Gillins was in the mix as well, providing Hawthorne with two scores.

Hawthorne didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited University Christian to a completion percentage of just 22.7%. That defensive display was nothing new: the Hornets have limited their opponent to a lower and lower completion percentage in three consecutive games.

The victory got Dunnellon back to even at 4-4. As for Hawthorne, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
