Softball Recap: Almeta Crawford Wins Going Away Against Royal

The Almeta Crawford Chargers made easy work of the Royal Falcons on Friday and carried off a 16-1 victory. That looming 16-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chargers yet this season.

Katelyn Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, Almeta Crawford got a massive performance out of Maya Hanks, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Hanks also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Tiffany Rodriguez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Almeta Crawford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Almeta Crawford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12.5 hits in those games compared to only 1.67 in the others. Royal's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7-1.
