Softball Recap: Buckeye Trail Gets the Win

Buckeye Trail hadn't done well against Cambridge recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Bobcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 two weeks ago.

Ella Ashby was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted over her last 11 contests. Daisy Cyrus also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Buckeye Trail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.

Buckeye Trail is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-16 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Cambridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17.
