Softball Game Preview: Pinecrest Patriots vs. Lee County Yellow Jackets

The Pinecrest Patriots will square off against the Lee County Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Pinecrest turned things around against Southern Lee on Friday. They came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 13-8. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Addisyn Stayskal made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Pinecrest got a big performance out of Emily Hatcher, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Arianna Reddinger was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Pinecrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Lee only posted a batting average of .214.

Meanwhile, Lee County had just enough and edged out Western Harnett 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted against the Eagles since March 27, 2018.

The team relied heavily on Imani Chubbs, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Lee County's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Pinecrest, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12.
