Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Lancers vs. Powhatan Indians

The Manchester Lancers will head out to face off against the Powhatan Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Manchester's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over L.C. Bird. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by eight runs or more this season.

Judah Parks made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Lourinia, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Asher Blalock was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Powhatan got the win against Richmond High School for the Arts on Thursday by a conclusive 13-0. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The win made it two in a row for Manchester and bumps their season record up to 8-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Powhatan, their record now sits at 10-4.

Manchester took their win against Powhatan when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
