Baseball Recap: Hudson Wins High-Profile Match Against River Falls

Hudson faced River Falls in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Wildcats. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Wildcats on Tuesday, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Hudson got a great performance from Mitchell Anderson as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Jace Mataczynski was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Oswald, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Hudson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for River Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Hudson will head out on the road to face off against Sun Prairie East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for River Falls, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Wausau East at 12:00 p.m.
