Preview: Banff Bears vs. Texas Christian Tigers
Banff is 0-3 against Texas Christian since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Banff Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Texas Christian Tigers at 6:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Banff: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Texas Christian has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
On Friday, Banff was the victim of a tough 62-40 loss at the hands of The Connection School of Houston. Banff has struggled against The Connection School of Houston recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Martin Cook, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks. Cook is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taha Unwala, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Texas Christian earned a 47-36 win over School of the Woods on Tuesday.
It was another big night for Daniel Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brecken Pelzel, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Banff has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 17 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Texas Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season.
Banff suffered a grim 64-40 defeat to Texas Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Banff was down 39-19.
