Volleyball Recap: Air Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Air Academy came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks, falling 3-0. The Kadets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17, 25-10.

Air Academy's offense was headlined by Mae Magoon and Elly Siebert, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Audrey Husemann and her 14 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Kaisa Dowd was nothing short of spectacular for Cheyenne Mountain: she had six kills, five digs, and three aces. Dowd has been hot, having posted five or more kills the last six times she's played. Brynn Ressler was another key player, getting eight digs and two aces.

Air Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Air Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain will take on rival Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
