Baseball Recap: Homestead Find Success

Homestead came out on top against Santa Teresa on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Mustangs walked away with a 7-2 win over the Saints. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ajay Lohitsa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drew Hamburger, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Howard Cheng was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Homestead's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Santa Teresa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Homestead will square off against Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead will need to watch out since Pioneer has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Santa Teresa, they will take on Scotts Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
