Recap: Sparta Spartans vs. Aquinas Blugolds
The Sparta Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 71-37 loss at the hands of Aquinas. Sparta has struggled against Aquinas recently, as their contest on Friday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Sparta lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Rhead, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Berendes, who scored seven points.
Sparta's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 19-11.
Sparta's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tomah at 7:15 p.m. on February 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Wisconsin (Tomah is ranked 379th, while Sparta is ranked 370th). As for Aquinas, they will be playing at home against Onalaska at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Aquinas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Onalaska is ranked 43rd).
