Southridge and Hermiston are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2018, but not for long. The Suns will welcome the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Southridge came up short against Kamiakin on Friday, falling 28-7. The matchup marked the Suns' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Despite the loss, Southridge had strong showings from Gabe Borisch, who rushed for 105 yards and one TD, and Tayton Jackman, who rushed for 81 yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hermiston). They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 47-7 victory over Hanford. With the Bulldogs ahead 21-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Hermiston found their leader in sophomore Brayden Medelez, who rushed for 58 yards and three scores, and also threw for 163 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes. Medelez is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). A healthy portion of Medelez's aerial production (80 yards to be exact) went to Tanner Wicks.
Hermiston didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as James Young, Tabor Mills, and Nathaniel Henderson picked up one apiece. Mills got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The win made it two in a row for Hermiston and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Southridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Everything came up roses for Southridge against Hermiston in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-6 win. In that matchup, the Suns amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
