Basketball Recap: Southern Valley Takes a Loss

Southern Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 70-52 to the Gibbon Buffaloes. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Buffaloes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Gibbon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Weismann, who posted 21 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Weismann's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Keaton Heikkinen was another key player, going 8-for-13 to rack up 19 points and four steals.

Southern Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Gibbon, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.

Southern Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 80-49 loss against Dundy County-Stratton on the 14th. As for Gibbon, they have also already played their next contest, a 79-65 win against Ravenna on the 13th.
