Baseball Recap: Rahway Comes Up Short

Rahway had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it six. They came up short against the Franklin Warriors, falling 13-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 13-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Rahway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremy Woo, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Woo has hit this season.

As for Franklin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

On Franklin's side, they got a great performance from Dylan Shah as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Shah a new career-high.

At the plate, Izaiah Robinson was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Franklin is 5-1 when Robinson posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Ziegler, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rahway will take on North Plainfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Canucks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Franklin, they will square off against Bridgewater-Raritan on Monday.
