Softball Recap: Hays Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Hays took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Liberty Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hays Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over the Liberty Hill Panthers on Monday. This was payback for the Hawks, who suffered a 12-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Hays let Natalia Aleman and Teuila Eteaki run wild. Aleman fired off two home runs while going 3-for-3, while Eteaki went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. What's more, Aleman posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Lopez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Hays lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Hays pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Liberty Hill, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3-1.

Looking ahead, Hays will welcome Lehman at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hays is facing Lehman at the right time seeing as Lehman is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Liberty Hill, they will head out on the road to challenge Cedar Park at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
