Basketball Game Preview: Goddard Lions vs. Newton Railroaders

The Goddard Lions will face off against the Newton Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Goddard was beaten by Maize South 65-35. The Lions have struggled against the Mavericks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Newton hadn't done well against Eisenhower recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Newton walked away with a 48-41 victory over Eisenhower.

Newton's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Goddard, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Goddard suffered a grim 80-58 defeat to Newton in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Thankfully for Goddard, Jaxon Brackeen (who posted 19 points and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
