Baseball Recap: Pinnacle Panthers vs. Piute Thunderbirds
Pinnacle extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 7-10. They lost 17-7 to the Piute Thunderbirds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-1 on Wednesday.
Domonick Hiutt made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joey Howell, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Piute, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Piute's side, Blake Dalton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Dalton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
