Riverdale is a perfect 5-0 against Vanlue since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverdale has three straight wins, Vanlue has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Riverdale got the win against Pandora-Gilboa by a conclusive 13-2. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by exactly 11 runs.
Evan Reiter made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Riverdale: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kydin Reed and Jackson Armrose did most of the damage at the plate: Reed went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Armrose got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Riverdale is undefeated when Armrose posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Justin Gonzales also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pandora-Gilboa only posted an OBP of .227.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Vanlue's offense. They came up short against McComb on Monday, falling 16-0.
Vanlue's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Riverdale, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Vanlue's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverdale has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Vanlue, though, as they've only averaged .298. Will they be able to contain Riverdale's hitters?
Everything went Riverdale's way against Vanlue when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Riverdale made off with a 21-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
