Basketball Recap: Manzano Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Zaria Gomez and Daira Solis

Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Capital Jaguars, falling 77-56. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-56 back in January.

Daira Solis and Zaria Gomez certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Solis dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Gomez posted 23 points and four steals. Those 25 points gave Solis a new career-high.

Capital had a senior duo take command as Annica Montoya put up 16 points and Alisha Nava earned 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Perez, who scored nine points.

Manzano's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Capital, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-17.

Manzano wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-42 defeat against La Cueva on the 20th. As for Capital, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-59 loss against Eldorado on the 20th.
