Basketball Recap: Woods Charter Wolves vs. Chatham Charter Knights
Woods Charter lost against Chatham Charter back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Woods Charter Wolves were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 42-41 to the Chatham Charter Knights. While the Wolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 9-4 in the first quarter.
Chatham Charter found their leader in freshman Breylan Harris, who posted ten points and eight boards. Harris has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brennan LaVelle, who earned 12 points and seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Woods Charter and nudges their season record down to 13-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 22-4 Southern Wake Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 76.2% over those games). As for Chatham Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-9 record this season.
