Volleyball Recap: Marshall Rams vs. Holmes Huskies
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against O'Connor, Marshall was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Holmes Huskies. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.
While Marshall won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.
Alessandra Casta?eda paced Marshall's offense, picking up 13 kills. Casta?eda got some help from
Elizabeth Cleveland and her 28 assists. Cleveland also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with
Marieme Fall, racking up three apiece.
Holmes' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia De Leon, who had ten digs and 13 assists. Yvonne Poblano was another key player, getting 12 digs.
The win snapped Marshall's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 16-25 record. As for Holmes, they are on an 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-31.
Marshall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Stevens on the 29th. Holmes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
