Basketball Game Preview: Newton Railroaders vs. Andover Central Jaguars

The Newton Railroaders will square off against the Andover Central Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Newton is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Andover on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Newton was beaten by Andover 63-33. The contest marked the Railroaders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Andover Central put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Goddard to the tune of 84-41. The Jaguars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Newton better keep an eye on Jayden Brown. He was instrumental in Andover Central's win, going 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Those six assists gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Jefferson, who posted ten points.

Andover Central's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
