Preview: Harding University Rams vs. Hough Huskies
The Harding University Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Hough Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Harding University has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Hough will arrive with seven straight victories.
Last Friday, Harding University took a serious blow against West Charlotte, falling 72-7. While losing is never fun, Harding University can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while West Charlotte is ranked ninth).
Meanwhile, Hough made easy work of Mallard Creek on Friday and carried off a 30-6 win. The result was nothing new for Hough, who have now won three games by 24 points or more so far this season.
The critical scores for Hough came from Sean Brady and Jacob Dossey.
Harding University's loss was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.25 points per game. As for Hough, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 7-1.
Harding University was dealt a bruising 56-6 loss at the hands of Hough when the teams last played back in August of 2018. Thankfully for Harding University, Kennique Bonner-steward (who threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
