Softball Game Preview: Palmerton Blue Bombers vs. Northwestern Lehigh Tigers

The Palmerton Blue Bombers will square off against the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Palmerton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Catasauqua get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Blue Bombers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

SAMANTHA WOLFE made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on TESSA SANDER, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was MACKENZIE FERBER, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Palmerton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Northwestern Lehigh had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with an 8-0 win.

Northwestern Lehigh's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Palmerton, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Palmerton came out on top in a nail-biter against Northwestern Lehigh in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Blue Bombers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
