Basketball Recap: Symmes Valley Takes a Loss

Symmes Valley lost against Eastern two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Symmes Valley Vikings fell just short of the Eastern Eagles by a score of 59-57. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 18-14 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Symmes Valley still got an impressive performance from Willie Jones, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bronx Carpenter, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Symmes Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Symmes Valley's record is now 13-6. As for Eastern, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.

Looking ahead, Symmes Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Western at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Symmes Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season. As for Eastern, they and Southeastern will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Eastern knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Southeastern likes a good challenge.
