Grove City's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Oil City Oilers 3-2. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Oilers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Layne Rider spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Grove City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Renick, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Max Knouse also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win got Grove City back to even at 2-2. As for Oil City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grove City is set to take on their familiar foe Hickory at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Oil City will challenge rival Sharon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
