Basketball Recap: Stansbury Comes Up Short

Stansbury lost against South Sevier back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stansbury Stallions took a blow against the South Sevier Rams, falling 52-18. The game marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Stansbury lost, don't look at Sadie Kennedy. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and seven boards. Kennedy has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

South Sevier got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Whitley Goble out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Goble a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Sydnee Patterson, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Stansbury and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for South Sevier, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Dixie the next time they take the court. South Sevier will head out to face Dixie at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Stansbury will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
