Soccer Recap: Animo Leadership Takes a Loss

Saturday just wasn't the day for Animo Leadership's offense. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Santa Monica Vikings an easy 3-0 win. While losing is never fun, the Aztec Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Vikings are ranked 19th).

Animo Leadership's loss dropped their record down to 3-5-2. As for Santa Monica, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Animo Leadership will be taking part in a tournament against Northridge Academy at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday. Northridge Academy's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Animo Leadership's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Santa Monica, they will take on Mira Costa in a tournament on Monday. Mira Costa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.4 goals per game this season.
