Basketball Recap: Moberly Spartans vs. Mexico Bulldogs
The Moberly Spartans lost against the Mexico Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Moberly was the victim of a rough 75-50 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Moberly in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Moberly lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cameron Doubrava, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Land, who scored eight points.
Moberly struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Moberly has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Mexico, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.
Moberly will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. As for Mexico, they will head out on the road to challenge the Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 44th).
