Baseball Recap: Holmes Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Holmes, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 15-12 win over the Gates County Red Barons on Monday. This was payback for the Aces, who suffered a 10-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Maddox Bass made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Daniel Hare was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Zach Walston, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Holmes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gates County only posted an OBP of .450.

Holmes now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gates County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Holmes will square off against North Pitt at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gates County, they will challenge Camden County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
