Recap: Hamilton Huskies vs. Xavier College Prep Gators
After a string of four wins, the Hamilton Huskies's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 57-41 to Xavier College Prep. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hamilton has scored all season.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reanna Farrington, who scored nine points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanna Creal, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Hamilton were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Xavier College Prep only racked up three assists.
Sarah Miller continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Xavier College Prep, scoring 18 points. Irene (Noelle) Guiamatsia was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Hamilton's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Xavier College Prep, their victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Basha at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Basha focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Monday. As for Xavier College Prep, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Perry at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Perry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Xavier College Prep is ranked first).
