Recap: North Brunswick Scorpions vs. Hoggard Vikings
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the North Brunswick Scorpions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hoggard by a score of 78-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
North Brunswick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Bernard out in front who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakhi Daniels, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Hoggard still got an impressive performance from Jaylen Herring, who scored 22 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Herring has scored all season. Josiah Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
North Brunswick's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.5 points per game. As for Hoggard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Brunswick will take on the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Topsail will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Scorpions are ranked 109th). As for Hoggard, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
