Softball Recap: St. James Takes a Loss

St. James was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Covenant Christian Academy Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-8 last Wednesday.

Lyric Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Alivia Mayet was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

St. James' defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Covenant Christian Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7.

Coincidentally, St. James and Covenant Christian Academy will both be playing Terrebonne the next time they take the field. Covenant Christian Academy will host Terrebonne at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while St. James will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
