Softball Game Preview: George West Longhorns vs. Orange Grove Bulldogs

George West is 0-6 against Orange Grove since February of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The George West Longhorns will welcome the Orange Grove Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. George West has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

George West is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They came up short against Robstown, falling 17-1.

Meanwhile, Orange Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Odem.

Malorie Velasco was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. She also put up ten walks, which were her first of the season.

At the plate, Olivia Beish was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Jaydyn Tabarez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Orange Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for George West, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

George West suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Orange Grove when the teams last played back in February. Can George West avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
