You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Mayfield on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-57 victory over the Lake Catholic Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Izzy Austin had a dynamite game, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 30 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Aarav Ganore was another key player, going 10-for-17 en route to 22 points.

Mayfield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mayfield will venture away from home to take on Orange at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Catholic, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against North at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
