Baseball Recap: Lincoln Cougars vs. Elkins Tigers

Lincoln was the 8-0 winner over Elkins when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Lincoln Cougars fell 14-11 to the Elkins Tigers on Wednesday. Lincoln has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dillon Shaw and Will Wolfe stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shaw scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Wolfe scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Sears, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. That's the best OBP they've managed all season.

On Elkins' side, they got a big performance out of Kenton Haddix, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Emory Jack was another key contributor, going 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Lincoln's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Elkins, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln is on the road again on Thursday to play Liberty at 5:00 p.m. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Elkins, they will head out on the road to square off against Grafton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
