Basketball Recap: Monticello Has No Trouble Against Pinnacle

Monticello posted their biggest win since January 14th on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 62-39 margin over the Pinnacle Panthers. The Buckaroo have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Pinnacle's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Howell, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Santiago Alamillo was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards.

Monticello's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. As for Pinnacle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

Monticello will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Piute at 2:30 p.m. on February 26th. Piute will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Monticello surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pinnacle, they have already played their next game, a 63-37 loss against Altamont on the 24th.
