Baseball Recap: Buford Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Buford waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the North Central Knights 13-3. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gavin Lowery made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Mckenzie, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Jackson Sellers was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Buford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Central only posted an OBP of .308.

Buford's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for North Central, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
