Charlotte Christian added to the longest winning streak in NCISAA Charlotte Independent Schools this week by beating Ravenscroft, 50-28. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Charlotte Christian took down the Ravens 50-28 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Charlotte Country Day's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cole Bloomer threw for 126 and 2 touchdowns and Michael Shields had 69 yards receiving. On the ground Sheppard Wilson chipped in 83 yards. Wilson helped Charlotte Country Day's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 26 yards.
Blanton Hamilton made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Buccaneers beat Providence Day. The 6-foot-0 senior forced 1 fumble and racked up 1 sack.
Wilson was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 83 yards on 13 carries as Charlotte Country Day defeated the Chargers. Teammate Robert Tate added to the ground attack by rushing for 56 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Bob Witman's team's Bloomer and Thomas Jackson have proven to be a lethal combination. Bloomer has thrown for 1,101 yards this season, while Jackson has 35 catches for 464 yards. Jason Estep's team's Elijah Deveaux leads the league in rushing yards with 912.
The Knights' Deveaux needs only 88 yards against Providence Day next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Deveaux has rushed for 912 yards on 124 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in NCISAA Charlotte Independent Schools this week will be when Bruce Hardin's team takes on Charlotte Christian. As it stands, the Chargers are in third, while the Knights are in first.
Charlotte Christian led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Ravenscroft.
