The Elk Lake Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Dunmore Bucks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Elk Lake's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Elk Lake made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mountain View, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Eagles on Friday. Considering the Warriors have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Braydon McMicken and Dawson Sherman made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, McMicken didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Sherman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, McMicken scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Sherman scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave McMicken a new career-high in home runs (two).
In other batting news, Logan Ayotte was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alden Felker also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Elk Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Dunmore came up short against Mid Valley on Friday and fell 4-1. The game marked the Bucks' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Dunmore saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Forgione, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Dunmore fell to 7-1. As for Elk Lake, their record is now 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Elk Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dunmore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Elk Lake suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Dunmore in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
