Basketball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Perry's Winning Streak

Perry was the 49-44 winner over Orange when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Perry Pirates fell 61-50 to the Orange Lions on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Lions are ranked 468th).

Orange's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Mcculloch led the charge by going 7 of 15 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Marderstein, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

With the loss, Perry broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2. As for Orange, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Perry will square off against Edgewood at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orange, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Orange Lions take on the Euclid Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
