Baseball Recap: Poudre Takes a Loss

Poudre had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-7 to make it seven. They came up short against the Roosevelt Roughriders, falling 10-4. The Impalas were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Roughriders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Angelo Vieira was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Roosevelt, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.5 runs this season.

On Roosevelt's side, the team relied heavily on Luke Unruh, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jeremiah Bradberry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Looking ahead, Poudre will head out on the road to challenge Thompson Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Impalas will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Roosevelt, they will welcome Berthoud at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Roughriders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
