Softball Game Preview: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. Heritage Hills Patriots

The Evansville Memorial Tigers will take on the Heritage Hills Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Evansville Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Evansville Central. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Evansville Memorial got a massive performance out of Cypress Aliotta, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four hits gave Aliotta a new career-high. Annie Blackburn was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Evansville Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evansville Central only posted an OBP of .238.

Meanwhile, Heritage Hills won against Evansville Harrison on Friday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Patriots didn't even let Mt. Vernon on the board, marking the Patriots' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Evansville Memorial has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.

Evansville Memorial couldn't quite finish off Heritage Hills in their previous meeting on Tuesday and fell 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
