Soccer Game Preview: Soldotna vs. Juneau-Douglas

The Soldotna Stars will head out to take on the Juneau-Douglas Crimson Bears at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Soldotna will be strutting in after a win while Juneau-Douglas will be coming in after a defeat.

Soldotna is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Homer, who was ranked 17th at the time (Soldotna was ranked 13th). The Stars never let the Mariners get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Soldotna in their matchups with Homer: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Juneau-Douglas after they claimed the first goal on Saturday, however, they wouldn't score again. They fell just short of West Anchorage by a score of 2-1.

Juneau-Douglas' goal came courtesy of Milina Mazon, who's now up to two this season.

Juneau-Douglas has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4-1 record this season. As for Soldotna, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
