Baseball Recap: Christ the King's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

If Christ the King was feeling good fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Community School of Davidson last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Christ the King fell 7-4 to Community School of Davidson on Thursday. The Crusaders' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Patrick Walsh was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Walsh was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Christ the King is 4-2 when Walsh posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Troy Alderfer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has become a key player for Christ the King: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 4-5 otherwise.

Even though they lost, Christ the King lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February.

Christ the King's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Community School of Davidson, their record now sits at 7-3.

While Christ the King had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Friday.
