Volleyball Recap: Heritage Christian Takes a Loss

Heritage Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 25-21 in the first set.

Heritage Christian wouldn't go down easily and took Indianapolis Shortridge into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Ben Bauer paced Heritage Christian's offense, picking up 13 kills. Bauer got some help from Ethan Gorny and his 18 assists. Bauer was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Heritage Christian's record is now 2-7. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Heritage Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Providence Cristo Rey on the 22nd. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Warren Central at 12:00 p.m.
