Softball Recap: Eagle Pass' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Eagle Pass had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Clemens Buffaloes on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Eagle Pass got a great performance from Sofia Torres as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michelle Torralba, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Clari Leija, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Eagle Pass always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

Eagle Pass' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Clemens, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-9.

Looking ahead, Eagle Pass will square off against Harlingen on Saturday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Clemens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
