Baseball Recap: Yarmouth Takes a Loss

Yarmouth fell victim to Poland and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 1-0. The Clippers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Iggy McGrath spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Yarmouth has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Poland, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.

Coming up, Yarmouth will challenge Freeport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Poland, they will look to defend their home field on June 4 against Mountain Valley at 4:00 p.m.
