Football Recap: Elkhart Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arp, Elkhart was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Winona Wildcats with a sharp 45-21 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Elks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Dalton Walker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 240 yards and four scores while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Elkhart also got help from Callyn Franklin, who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elkhart was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 330 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Elkhart moved to 2-7 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Winona, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Elkhart will challenge New Diana at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Elks will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.22 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Winona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
