Baseball Game Preview: Copper Basin Cougars vs. Tellico Plains Bears

Copper Basin hasn't had much luck against Tellico Plains recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cougars will host the Bears at 5:00 p.m. Copper Basin has given up an average of 14.3 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Copper Basin is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They lost 17-0 to Sale Creek.

Meanwhile, Tellico Plains had just enough and edged out Gibbs 5-4 on Thursday.

John Broad spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Dawson Edwards and Rylan Saffles did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Saffles went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Tellico Plains is 4-2 when Edwards posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Ike Hollinghead also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Copper Basin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-1. As for Tellico Plains, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11.
